RE:                   CC Motion by Councilor  Elliott:  “Request the Manager provide an update on the waste water treatment plant odor remediation project

In regards to the above-mentioned motion by Councilor Elliott, I have been in communication with Mark Young, Waste Water Treatment Director.

Mr. Young reports that the first phase of the project will begin shortly as the contracts are in place.  The first phase replaces the Gravity Thickener drivers which are located in the covered sludge tanks and also replaces the Aeration Blowers, which have proven to be unreliable. A portion of the recent 5 million dollar bond funds these upgrades.  The bond also funds the design of the Aeration upgrade and the upgrade/replacement of the Pepcon Odor Control System as well as the installation of an odor control bio-filter for the second phase of the Odor Mitigation project. Depending upon the size of the second project a Septage handling station may be included.

Further reports will be provided to the Council as the project progresses.  Please contact me if you require more information or clarification.  Thank you.
