RE:                   UPDATE - Council Motion of 2/13/07 by Councillor Milinazzo

“Request the City Manager have the Traffic Engineer address the timing of the traffic lights at the intersection of Andover Street and High Street.”

I have been in contact with Jeff Gomes, Transportation Engineer, regarding the motion mentioned above.  Jeff stated that he has been working with the City Electrician on the intersection in question at Andover Street and High Street.  Andover Street as well as High Street runs on loop detectors, which are used to tell the signal that a vehicle is present.  One loop detector has not been functioning properly since February 2007.  At that time it could not be fixed because street opening permits were not being issued, which is typical during the winter season.  Now that the weather has been warm consistently and street opening permits have resumed, the loop detector will be fixed.  DPW has appropriated the money necessary to fix the problem at the intersection.  The package will go out to Electric Light on May 25, 2007.  Upon inspection, Electric Light will be able to schedule a date to fix the loop detector soon.
