 “REQUEST THE APPROPRIATE DEPARTMENT ESTABLISH A FUND TO ACCEPT DONATIONS FOR THE 4^TH OF JULY FIREWORKS “

Regarding the above mentioned motion, I met with the Finance Department to access the feasibility of establishing a fund for the annual fireworks display.    Statute does not allow for a check-off to be included in the tax bill for this type of donation; however it is possible to include a separate donation form with the tax bill, in the same envelope as it does not increase the postage rate.

Such a donation form will be included in future quarterly tax bills with clear instructions for its use.  The donations must be made separately from the tax payment for accurate automated processing of the tax payments.  These separate donations will be deposited to a specific fireworks fund established by the City Auditor.
