TO:                 Mayor William F. Martin, Jr.

                                    And

Members of the Lowell City Council

FROM:           Bernard F. Lynch, City Manager

DATE:            September 28, 2007

SUBJECT:      First Annual Vendor Fair

The City of Lowell’s First Annual Vendor Fair was held yesterday, September 27, 2007 at the Stoklosa School.  A presentation was given to all attendees outlining the procurement process. The City and School departments that purchase the most goods and services were in attendance to answer questions.

P. Michael Vaughn, Chief Procurement Officer/Purchasing Agent reports that the fair was a success.  The results of a brief survey revealed that all respondents felt the fair met their expectations.  As well as learning about the procurement process, vendors valued the opportunity to meet the key decision makers and the ability to interact with the departments.

I thank the following City departments as well as the School department for participating in the event.  Their attendance was key to the success of the fair.

  • DPW
  • Parks/Recreation

  • Fire

  • Police

  • Health

  • Purchasing

  • Manager’s Office
