                        City Councilors

RE:                 COUNCIL MOTION OF 10/30/07 BY MAYOR WILLIAM MARTIN

REQUEST THE CITY MANAGER HAVE THE TRAFFIC ENGINEER INVESTIGATE ERECTING A ONE-WAY SIGN AT DUBLIN AND CORK STREET

In response to the above-mentioned motion I have been in communication with Jeff Gomes, Transportation Engineer.  He has visited the site and reviewed the ordinance history for the streets in question.  Cork Street, formerly Marion Street was written into ordinance in 1950 for being one way.  When the street name changed the ordinance did not reflect the street name change.  This street should still be one way; therefore the proper signage shall be erected.

A 60-day trial will be before the City Council on January 29, 2008, addressing the name change for the street, keeping the one-way operation.  If you have any questions regarding this matter please contact me.
