Parking Ban-C. Carney response
February 22,
2007
Dear Manager Lynch:
The following
information is in response to Councilor Rita Mercier’s motion
of February 20th
2007 to clarify the policies and procedures for garage parking
during snow emergencies
as it relates to Special Events.
The intent of the “snow ban parking ordinance” and the
offer of free parking
in the City Garages is to
give the citizens of
during the Snow Ban
Emergency, while the City is clearing/plowing the streets.
Typically this is overnight parking
as well as during the day. However if we
have a special event
during the emergency the customers of the Garage are asked
if they are parking for
the event or the snow emergency.
Customers parking for the snow emergency are not charged
and allowed to
park free, customers parking in the garage for the event
only are
charged the event rate.
We have changed the City WEB site (see attached) to
communicate this policy and will have
signs at all garage
entrances specifying this policy during Snow Emergencies.
The Parking Department will continue to monitor this area
in the future.
Please let me know if you would like any further
information.
c/c
Councilor Rita
Mercier
Respectfully:
