Press Release - City of Lowell Seeks Applicants For Solid Waste & Recycling Advisory Committee

The City of Lowell currently seeks letters of interest from Lowell residents to fill openings on the newly established Solid Waste & Recycling Advisory Committee. The role of the Advisory Committee is to provide advice, assistance and recommendations regarding the City’s waste collection and recycling program as well as to help positively increase recycling awareness both within and out of the current scope of city collection.

“The success of the new Solid Waste & Recycling Program”, states City Manager Bernie Lynch “relies greatly on the ability to convey the importance of recycling and provide hands-on practical guidance as to how accomplish it across a diverse population.  I see the Solid Waste & Recycling Advisory Committee as an integral piece of this program.”

Interested applicants should believe in and support the interests of waste collection and recycling programs.  They should be willing to facilitate a grassroots effort to promote recycling.  Responsibilities include attendance at regularly scheduled meetings as well as some weekend work promoting recycling and the new solid waste program.

Appointments are for a 3 year term. Interested applicants should send a letter of interest and a resume by October 10, 2008 to the City Manager’s Office, 375 Merrimack Street, Lowell, MA 01852, Fax: 978-970-4007 or emailed to Donna McIntosh dmcintosh@lowellma.gov EOE/AA/504 Employer
