Lowell Senior Center
If you are 60 years of age and older you can now use your Food Stamps for lunch. We can electronically debit your Food Stamp Account at the time of your donation. Just bring in your EBT.
“Whether a senior lives alone or lives with others, sometimes they can't pay all the bills or buy prescriptions and still have enough money to buy food. That's when food stamp benefits can really help. We will be joining other Senior Centers in Massachusetts that offer this benefit,” says, Lynne Brown-Zounes, ED Lowell Council on Aging.
A recent technology grant award from Project Bread will enable us to assist seniors with the Food Stamp application process electronically. Now seniors can apply for Food Stamps at the Lowell Senior Center and then redeem them here as well. You can use food stamps at grocery stores, convenience stores and markets and now you can use them at the Lowell Senior Center at 276 Broadway Street, Lowell. Lunch is served daily for individuals 60 and older at 11:30 am. The suggested donation is $2.00.
What are food stamps?
Food stamps help you buy food. Whether you live alone or live with others, whether you have children or not, sometimes you can't pay all the bills and still have enough money to buy food. That's when food stamp benefits can really help.
When you get food stamps, you will be given an account, like a bank account. You will also get a plastic card called the Mass EBT card. Each month, your food stamp benefits are put into your account. You can use your EBT card at grocery stores, convenience stores, markets, and co-ops and now you can use them at the Lowell Senior Center at 276 Broadway Street, Lowell.
