I-495 Corridor Public Meetings

The Executive Office of Transportation and Public Works (EOTPW) has been working with the North Middlesex Council of Governments and the Merrimack Valley Planning Commission to examine issues and opportunities for addressing safety and congestion problems along 40 miles of I-495. Assisted by a study advisory group of officials and organizations from the 13 cities and towns along the corridor, EOTPW has developed a plan for near-term improvements (less than 3 years), mid-term improvements (3-8 years), and long-term improvements (more than 8 years).

Solid Waste Report

As the City of Lowell embarks to develop the fiscal years 09 City Budget, it also provides an opportunity to analyze and scrutinize all City operators programs and services in order to identify any means to stretch tax dollars. One such service which has become increasingly burdensome to the City budget is servicing the Solid Waste needs of Lowell residents.

Notice - Water Main Repairs

The Lowell Regional Water Utility will be performing water main repairs at the Hunts Fall Bridge (Rte 38) beginning Monday, February 4, 2008. We anticipate the work in this area to be completed by Friday, February 22, 2008. The work is scheduled to be performed between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

FEMA Releases New Preliminary Flood Maps

FEMA is releasing new maps as part of a larger effort to modernize the nations aging flood maps to reflect the most current flood risks and area of recent growth. Lowell’s new flood maps were developed after an extensive, multi year study of Lowell’s floodplains by FEMA that used state of the art technologies and risk modeling techniques.
