Howe Building

Howe BuildingHowe Building, 208 Middlesex Street

1883

National Register of Historic Places (10/12/1989)

The Howe Building is one of Lowell’s most outstanding examples of Queen Anne architecture.  A central, wide-stepped gable is the focal point on the building while a wide range of other Queen Anne architectural features adorn the façade including fan and sun shapes carved in the dormers as well as panels of brick decoration on the main façade.  The building is a lively mixture of colors and textures characteristic of Queen Anne architecture.

The building is also located within the Lowell National Historical Park & Preservation District and the Downtown Lowell Historic District.
