Open Space Plan

In July 2005, the City formally adopted an updated version of the City of Lowell Open Space Plan, which was last written in 1994.  As the population of the city increases and the development of open parcels continues, it is important to ensure that adequate open space and recreation are available to all residents. The Open Space Plan addresses these issues, as well as issues of public park maintenance, environmental protection, regional greenway connections, and other city-wide initiatives the help keep protect Lowell valuable greenspace.

The City held a presentation and public meeting on the draft of the Open Space Plan on Thursday, March 31, 2005 at 6:30pm in the Mayor's Reception Room at City Hall (375 Merrimack Street, Lowell, MA 01852).

The Lowell City Council voted to adoption the updated Open Space Plan on July 26, 2005.
